“90210″ fans will have something to sing about this spring! Mexican pop star Diego Boneta will be joining the cast, TV Guide reports.

Diego will play Javier, a young musician, in multiple episodes beginning in May. The buzz is that Javier has a fling with Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes), whose story line will “become increasingly music-centric when she joins an all-girl band.”

This is the first time the Mexican heartthrob will hit the small screen in America, but he is no newcomer to the music screen. Diego (who has also gone by the names Diego Indigo and Diego Gonzalez) has been nominated for Latin MTV Awards and Latin Grammys. He took to his Twitter this past weekend to break the news: “I’m going to be on several episodes of the American Hit TV series “90210″!!!! I’m playing “Javier” an international pop-star!”

What we find most interesting about the introduction of Javier into the cast is that a few months ago, word on the street was that Adrianna was going to be in a whole other kind of relationship — with a woman. We heard that she’d be exploring her options and making a real love connection with a gay West Beverly student, Gia (played by Rumer Willis). It will be interesting to see where her sexy new Latin man fits into the mix. All we can say is: ay papi!

The CW’s 90210 is not above a stunt casting. In the show’s first season, old school stars Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, and Jennie Garth (who was, until recently, a recurring character) all saw major screentime, and Rumer Willis had a nice bit role earlier this season. But the show’s latest move doesn’t make all that much sense: Ryan O’Neal is going to play Teddy Montgomery’s movie star dad?

The one-time Hollywood bad boy was spotted filming scenes in a vintage corvette with Trevor Donovan this week. It’s unlikely that most regular 90210 viewers know much about O’Neal – beyond, of course, his longtime relationship with the late Farrah Fawcett – so his sudden appearance on the show seems a little out of nowhere.

MICKEY: If you were unhappy with the mix of story lines in the fall episodes, imagine putting them all in a blender, leaving the cover off and hitting pulse a few times. Sure, some of your West Bev smoothie will spill out the top (never to be heard from again), but what’s left inside the blender will recombine familiar ingredients in new and interesting ways. Jennie Garth may have announced she’s leaving the revived 90210, but she’s not gone for good—at least not if onscreen half-sis Jessica Stroup has anything to do with it!

“There’s no saying she’s never going to come back,” Stroup recently told us. “She’s my sister. She will come back…I’m going to make it happen!”

But getting Kelly Taylor back to West Bev isn’t all Stroup’s character, Silver, has to worry about. She still has plenty of high school dramz going on, including a juicy love triangle with ex-beau Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and campus heartthrob/player Teddy (Trevor Donovan).

So, we’re dying to know: who does Silver really want to be with?

“It’s a tough call, but I think right now, deep down, Silver really wants to be with Teddy,” Stroup said.

Ironically, Stroup says she didn’t exactly welcome Donovan when he joined the cast. “When Trevor first started, I was like, ‘I don’t know about this guy—I’m not sure,’” she said. “It was literally like art imitating life and life imitating art. At first I thought he was stepping on our territory, but I’m actually having a blast with him.

“He’s such a good guy,” Stroup continued. “His character is finding his way to be a good guy as well.”
